JUDA - A Memorial Day observance will be held on May 25 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery to honor all veterans. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the Juda Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department raising the flag on the central flagpole, followed by the Juda Boy Scouts leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Juda Middle School chorus will sing "The Star Spangled Banner," and the Juda Middle School Band will play "Salute to America."

A special part of the program will be a tribute to the memory of Robert Hafen, a World War II veteran.

After the address by Rev. Vicki Brantmeyer, the Roll of Honor will be read by Kurt Jordan and Harlan Jordan, followed by the band playing "This is My Country."

On the Avenue of Flags, memorial flags will be flown for the veterans: Isaiah Lounsbury, Henry Norder, William S. Newman, Donald Pinnow, Raymond Matzke, Charles Yonts, Russell Matzke, Leroy Severson, Morris Grenzow, Harold Judd, Lester Shelton, Thomas Kelly, Irvin Matzke, Steve Carlson, Myron Newman, Glen Pickett and Richard Burkhalter.

A wreath will be laid on the memorial to the unknown veterans by Jeff Kelly and Ben Kelly, followed by a salute from the Veterans Team. Taps will be sounded to close the ceremony, with the benediction by Brantmeyer.

In case of inclement weather, the observance will be held at the Juda School.
