NEW GLARUS - High School students of Green County have been invited by the Green County Council of the American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program.
The contest for Green County students has been arranged with the full cooperation of Wisconsin school officials. The contest will be conducted at New Glarus High School on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. Orientation for contestants begins at 12:30 p.m.
The subject in the prepared oration portion of the contest must be about some phase of the Constitution of the United States. The prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant and must be 8 to 10 minutes in length.
The winner of the Green County contest will compete in the Third District contest in Darlington, on Jan. 20. The winner of the Third District will then compete in the State contest at Ripon College at a future date.
Each state winner who competes in the first round of the national contest will receive a $1,500 scholarship.
