Wisconsin Alumni Green County chapter Founder’s day

MONROE — Dinner for University of Wisconsin alumni and friends of Green County was held May 26 at the Monroe Golf Club. The chapter has given 375 scholarships since 1964, totaling over $200,000.  

The chapter recognized Ron Spielman as Badger of the Year.  

This award recognizes local alumni who have represented the university positively through success in their profession and volunteer activities.  

Rick Waski, former Monroe schools superintendent, thanked Ron for his long time support of school initiatives.  

Jane Sybers, executive director of Monroe Clinic & Hospital foundation thanked Ron for his many years of service. She read congratulatory remarks from other staff at SSM Health.  

The banquet speaker was Yoshiko Herrera, PhD, Professor of comparative politics and international relations at UW Madison. Her topic was, “Understanding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.” Her presentation was followed by question and answer time.
