There are bigger issues to legislate than mascots

Steve Hilgenberg, I am still hoping you will reconsider your support of this bill on school mascots. If not, I sure hope the state will pay for new uniforms, books, bus re-lettering, building re-lettering and all Six Rivers lettering in gyms welcoming Black Hawk, etc., because, guess what - the schools don't have any extra money.

This sure wasn't thought out real well, in my opinion. The name Black Hawk and Warriors is (was) meant to honor the old Sauk and Indian nation, not as some would suggest - disrespect. If this does pass, what will be next? Picking on the Norwegians, and the Viking mascot in area schools?

Instead, I wish all these elected officials would try and figure out how we are going to close this $5 billion shortfall in the state budget. You know, the important stuff. Or fixing some of these unsafe roads - like Wisconsin 39 east toward New Glarus or Wisconsin 78 south of Mount Horeb. I would think fixing roads would be a lot more important than this mascot issue.

Simply unbelievable....
