From Donna Kjendlie
Green County Historical Society President
To the editor:
The Green County Historical Society would like to thank all those that helped make the celebration of Lincoln Park and the Water Tower picnic held on July 13 a success. Over 100 persons were in attendance and were able to walk inside and take a look at the refurbished 130 year old water tower. Special thanks to our speakers about the saving of the tower from demolition and being placed on the National Register of Historic places were John & Donna Glynn, Christie Strait, Dennis Oostdik, and Dennis Stuckey, and Jerry Ellefson speaking on Monroe’s water system as a whole. A special thanks to the Swiss Colony for their food donation and especially the volunteers of the Historical Society.
