Letter to the Editor: Marklein wants to serve, support farmers
newspaper

From Jim Winn

Cottonwood Dairy, South Wayne

To the editor:

In 2010, Howard Marklein stopped by my farm. He was running for State Assembly at the time. He just stopped in while he was in the area and wanted to learn about our business. He asked us how things were going and what he could do to support us if he won the election.

After an hour and a half of conversation, he gave us his card and told us to call anytime. When he left, I turned to my partners and said that I couldn’t remember another time — ever — that a legislator had stopped in at the farm to see how things were going. This is the type of guy that Howard is. He wants to serve us, help us and support us. When we call with an idea or a challenge, he listens and does what he can to help.

This is why five farmer-led organizations have endorsed him. I am a member of the Dairy Business Association and I am proud that our group is behind Howard.

He gets us. He supports what it takes to keep and build a robust farming industry in Wisconsin.
