From the Executive Board
The World Cheese Discovery Center
To the editor:
A simple nod from you can greatly enrich your family's life in Monroe.
The "nod" is in support of establishing The World Cheese Discovery Center right here. Doing so could supercharge our city's future with international tourism, greater business revenue and a host of other community benefits.
Who says? The state Dept. of Agriculture, Trade, & Consumer Protection, The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, The Dairy Business Innovation Center, to name a few - organizations that stake their reputations on touting the best of Wisconsin to the nation and to the world. They all believe the center should be established here in Monroe, where we have an incredible heritage and more award-winning master cheesemakers than any other place on Earth.
All we're asking from you is a "nod" by Friday, May 18: a few short paragraphs on your individual or company letterhead in your own words showing your support of the benefits the center will bring to Monroe and southwest Wisconsin.
Your letter doesn't need a specific opening address, as it will be used for state and federal funding requests as well as other forms of support. Our first major funding application is due May 18. So, if we can receive your letter by that time, it will help greatly. Some of the points in your letter can include:
n Your position in the community, years of experience living here, perhaps your stake in Monroe's future
n Increased tourism, which increases restaurant, hotel, and business revenue throughout our southern counties
n More eligibility for state and federal funding for expanding community efforts
n Greater cultural awareness and exchanges
n Greater pride in and recognition for Monroe's cheesemaking heritage
n Attraction of vibrant new businesses and professionals to the area
n Increased employment opportunities throughout the year and throughout the counties
You may have many thoughts as to how this is truly a win-win situation for all our businesses and citizens throughout southwestern Wisconsin. Just by sharing your pride and voice of support by May 18, you can start to change our future direction towards amazing new horizons today.
Statements of support can be sent by May 18 as an email attachment to dcriesemd@tds.net, or postmarked no later than May 14 to Sharon Riese, 1421 14th Ave., Monroe WI 53566. We thank you for your support.
