A huge blossom to Ms. Sheila Bennett and Ms. Teri Williams and the kindergarten classes of Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Academy >for doing such a great job putting on the "Greatest Little Show on Earth!" It was absolutely adorable. These teachers need a big hand for putting together the production (Ms. Williams directed the children and Ms. Bennett played piano for their songs). The kids looked fabulous in their costumes and really had a lot of fun singing and dancing for their parents, grandparents and friends. Job well done, teachers and students, for such a great show! - Michele Cox>

A great big blossom to all the members of the Monroe boys and girls track teams. >Especially the J.V. teams that do not get the recognition that they deserve. You have all done a great job this year. - A Track Mom>

I would like to send out a huge blossom to the great group of people making up the Monticello Post Prom Committee.> It is nice knowing that we have parents involved with our kids to help make responsible decisions. You're a great group and Monticello is lucky to have each and every one of you. A barb goes out to the "children" in Monticello >that felt the need to be irresponsible on Saturday night and make the paper this week. Maybe you should rethink your choices before you live to regret them. - A proud Monticello parent>

A very large blossom and thank you for all the people assisting and supporting >the Green County Health Department with the Medication Collection Event on May 26:

• Dallas Cecil and the staff of the Green County Highway Department, who have been wonderful in their support and assistance in setting up and taking down of the Medication Collections.

• Jeff Skatrud and the staff of the Green County Sheriff's Department. Thank you for your support and recognizing the importance of our event.

• Dave Grinder and the Monroe Clinic Pharmacy. A critical partner in our Medication Collections, Dave has been an instrumental part in handling the medications and educating us on medications! Thanks again for your time!

• All the environmentally savvy participants of our event who dropped off medications and their old mercury thermometers.

All these partners have been dedicated to assisting us with four separate medication collections, where we have collected, to date, approximately 876 pounds of unused and unwanted medications and hundreds of mercury thermometers. All of these medications otherwise may have been disposed of in our landfills, polluted our waters, or hurt our loved ones or pets. Again, a huge blossom to all of the partners that make this necessary service available in our community. - Green County Health Department, Laura Marty, RN, BSN>

Bunches of blossoms to Mary Soddy, Creative Photography, and to Cathy Hauck and Angie Dombkowski, The Infinity Studio, >for taking time Friday afternoon, May 22, to talk about their businesses with the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council's Community Visit Day attendees at the "Building an Entrepreneur & Inventor Club" presentation. Their enthusiasm and passion for their businesses was felt among those attending. With a viable E&I Club here in Green County, it is good to have businesses like these to network with and share resources as we grow as a club and as businesses. - Susan Wetherington, executive assistant, Green County Development Corporation >

I would like to give a bouquet of blossoms to the members of the Knights of Columbus and their families >who donate their time for the good of the local community. During the course of the year they perform hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of service to the community raising money for various charities. They man the food stand at Twining Park during all of the ball games and for the Fourth of July celebration. This enables the players and their families to have refreshments during the game, and any profits are donated to local charitable causes. They also spend many hours doing less visible charitable work. - Christine Luchi, A. C. C., C. P. C. E., SeaMaster Cruises>

A blossom to George Wells, >retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Air Force, for his speech on Memorial Day events at Greenwood Cemetery concerning veterans, World War II and the cost of wars. The speech could be an inspiration for all of us and the true meaning of Memorial Day, not as just another three-day holiday. - Nate and Kay Bloom>

A blossom to Walmart >for putting in a nicely extended sidewalk on the bridge going to its new store on Sixth Avenue West. I've lobbied extensively on this with Hank Gempeler and it got to the point where I respected him as a lobbyist and appreciate the bridge extension and the fact that Walmart paid for it. I do think it has been an oversight up to now, though, by the City of Monroe, in not putting a sidewalk up to the bridge on Sixth Avenue West. While my wife and I and anyone else can walk on a hillside, someone on an electric scooter or even someone on a bicycle would have a more difficult problem. It would look foolish to have something look like it was left half done like a bridge to nowhere. - Mr. and Mrs. La Vern F. Isely, Monroe>
