A blossom to the Monroe Times sports department, Mark Nesbitt and Adam Krebs, for the wonderful coverage they did for all area wrestlers this season. The state wrestling qualifiers from the four area schools were covered very well - nice to read about area youths and their accomplishments. Thank you for a great season. - A Monroe wrestling family.

A blossom to the voters in the Brodhead School District referendum. These school boards all across Wisconsin have been holding hands way too long with the school teachers union. Last week in the Madison paper a story of Dane County facing a $30 million short fall and that 80 percent of this money was for salaries. You have managers making $125,000 a year and teacher-coaches making $85,000 a year. I live in the Black Hawk (Lafayette County) School District and if this next referendum passes, I'm moving out. We already have enough property for sale where it can't sell because of the taxes let alone adding some more. - Taxed enough

A big blossom to the two guys that deliver our Shopping News on 16th Avenue. They nicely hang it on our newspaper holder. Many others have just thrown it somewhere in the area of our porch, even if it was raining. Thanks, we appreciate you. - 16th Avenue resident

A big blossom to Monroe Clinic and Dr. Maxwell. I went to see the doctor after my surgery and everything went well. I went to see the doctor for a different problem, and went in a day or two and I felt much better and still do. - Allen J. Schroeder

A big blossom to the Monroe Police Department. Monroe can be proud of the dedicated people who serve this community. A special thanks to Officer Vicki and the investigative staff who assisted me after I was the victim of theft. I was most pleased and grateful with the aid they provided. With sincere thanks and appreciation. - A Green County resident

I'd like to give a big bouquet to a government agency, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, located in Atlanta, Ga., which also has a toll-free number (1-888-422-8737). It tells you how much iodine you have in your blood which you could also measure in your urine and saliva. If your doctor thinks you should have it measured, you'd have to have the sample sent to a state lab. This information also appears on the Web and it answers questions like, "How can iodine affect my health?" by affecting the thyroid with having too little or too much iodine in your system, which could cause a goiter on your neck, which a friend of mine had. I'd also like to thank the people that cared for me during my recent stay in the hospital because I had too much iodine which caused hyperthyroidism. - Linda M. Isely

A blossom to the fact that the council all of the sudden is tapping into the 5.1 million unreserved fund. A big barb to the fact that this is the first that a majority of Monroe is just finding out about this. I know that you don't want to get carried away with this by any means but the next time I hear, among other things, that the city needs revenue from parking meters to keep someone employed or we can't have spring clean-up days and how the city will have to charge extra for events like Cheese Days I'll just go nuts. - C'Mon Really
