A huge blossom to Jill Pertler's article "Teaching optimist on steroids" which appeared in the Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 Monroe Times. - Louise Spring

A blossom to each of the permanent employees of Colony Brands, Inc. who opted to donate all or part of their Associate Donation to the Green County Historical Society. The society appreciates the donation. The money will be used to defray the cost of refurbishing the stained glass windows in the Civil War-era church, which is now the home of the society's museum. - Green County Historical Society

A barb to the Monroe Athletic Department. Just an observation from an old school guy. What happened to the policy of no school, no after school activities? Case in point. No school Thursday and Friday, and yet Friday night we take our basketball teams and drag parents to Stoughton for a game. The roads were not in good shape Friday. Are we putting athletics before academics? I am sure school officials have a logical answer. - Ernest Beutel
