On a weekend where most others took off, individual Monroe Wrestling Club athletes traveled to Iowa-Grant Marshall and Adams Friendship for more experience.

MONROE — Although many took the weekend off, some MWC wrestlers continued to compete in three different tournaments.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, four MWC wrestlers went to the Fear the Bird Youth Wrestling Tournament in Marshall. Eli Schmitz (Gr 1-2, 54-59lbs) placed 1st; Trace Rowe (Gr 1-2, 75-77lbs) placed 1st; Caleb Schmitz (Gr 5-6, 66-69lbs) placed 2nd; and Jaylinn Miller (Gr 7-8, 157-171lbs) placed 3rd. 

Also on Saturday, Jan. 28, three MWC wrestlers made the trek to the Adams Friendship Green Demon Youth Wrestling Tournament. Kasen Fritchen (2016-17, 44-45lbs) placed 2nd; Nolan Fritchen (2010-11, 63-68lbs) placed 3rd; and Paityn Fritchen ( 2008-09, 93-95lbs) placed 2nd.

On Sunday, Jan 29, five MWC wrestlers made their way to the Iowa Grant Youth Wrestling Tournament. Kasen Fritchen (8u, 45-46lbs) placed 3rd; Trace Rowe (8u, 71-74lbs) placed 1st; Nolan Fritchen (12u, 60-65lbs) placed 3rd; Blaine Fletcher (12u, 74-80lbs) placed 2nd; and Paityn Fritchen (14u, 93-101lbs) placed 3rd.
