MONROE - The cavalry has arrived for the Monroe Brewers.

Fresh off their college baseball seasons, Cody Boals and Ben Korth pooled their efforts to deliver an 8-2 Western Section Home Talent League victory Sunday against visiting Ridgeway. The Highland and Rockford students, respectively, combined to work the first eight innings on the hill and Korth rapped home two runs.

Catcher and player-manager Rooney Janecke provided the pop with three hits, including a double. Second base leadoff hitter Adam Siegenthaler and Mike Cleary, also a Highland attendee, contributed two hits apiece.

Boals only allowed two hits, but both left the yard in the fourth inning. The junk-tossing righty fanned three over five innings and earned the win.

In other Western Section action, Wiota defeated Dogeville, 4-2, Blanchardville fell 6-2 to Richland Center, Argyle lost, 8-3, to Hollandale and Verona dropped a 20-0 decision on New Glarus.

The Indians of Wiota took advantage of two costly Knight errors in the ninth inning of Sunday's contest in Dodgeville.

Wiota pushed across the go-ahead and two insurance runs in the top of the ninth. The Knights committed six total errors.
