MONROE - The Monroe boys soccer team lost its sixth straight game, falling to Stoughton 4-2 Thursday at Honey Creek Park.

Monroe (5-10-1, 0-5 Badger South) jumped out to an early lead on a goal by freshman Anthany Hernandez off an assist from junior Ryne Miller at 3 minutes, 6 seconds.

Stoughton battled back, scoring two goals to take a 2-1 lead at the half. The Vikings added two more goals in the second half to build a 4-1 lead.

"I thought we played really well," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "They finished on their opportunities more than we did. The last four games we have played larger schools with teams full of seniors. The competition will get closer to our skill level."

Monroe senior McKenzy Foley scored a goal on a pass from Adam Nimmer at 76:23. Monroe junior goalkeeper Atticus Pond had 10 saves.



Sugar River 2, Mount Horeb 1

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River boys soccer team clipped Mount Horeb 2-1 in a non-conference game Thursday.

Sugar River senior Dylan Hustad scored a goal on an assist from senior Kevin Zimmerman at 17 minutes, 40 seconds. Zimmerman had two assists. Sugar River senior Nehemiah Noriega scored a goal on a pass from Zimmerman at 45:51 to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.

With the win, Sugar River improves to 12-3-1, 5-0-1 Capitol Conference.
