U14 girls tie Fond du Lac Fire

MONROE - The Avalanche PeeWee A team hosted the Patriots A team on Saturday and skated to a 5-1 win.

Ryan Molitor was first to score a goal with an assist from Jayden Johnson. The Patriots put the lone goal in the first period, tying the game 1-1.

In the third period, the Avalanche scored four goals. Tessa Janecke lit the lamp for two goals on passes from Haley Knauf, Alyssa Knauf and Hayden Roth. Hayden Roth and Cade Janecke each added a goal with each assisted by Payton Stauffacher. The Avalanche outshot the Patriots 34-17.

On Sunday, the PeeWee A team traveled to Janesville to play back-to-back games. In the first game vs. Janesville PeeWee A, the Avalanche dominated and easily defeated the Jr. Hawks 6-1.

Scoring for the Avalanche were Cade Janecke (three goals), Stauffacher (two goals) and Hayden Roth. Earning assists were Stauffacher, Johnson, Tessa Janecke (two), Molitor and Alyssa Knauf. The Avalanche outshot Janesville 42-17.

In the second game vs. Janesville PeeWee B, the Avalanche controlled the entire game and defeated Janesville 10-1.

Scoring Avalanche goals were Alyssa Knauf, Cade Janecke (three), Tessa Janecke (two), Haley Knauf, Hayden Roth, Alvin Buholzer and Johnson. Earning assists were Stauffacher (two), Johnson (two), Buholzer, Tessa Janecke (four), Alyssa Knauf (two) and Haley Knauf. The Avalanche outshot Janesville 48-14.



U14 Girls

The Avalanche U14 Girls team hosted the Fond du Lac Junior Fire on Sunday for two games. The Junior Fire defeated the Avalanche 7-4 in the first game and the second game ended in a 5-5 tie.

The two teams were evenly matched in the first game. The Junior Fire got on the scoreboard with a goal in the first period. Alyssa Knauf scored the first goal for Monroe on a pass from Tessa Janecke to start the second period. The Junior Fire responded followed by two Avalanche goals scored by Tessa Janecke on assists from Alyssa Knauf and Madeline Williams. Brooke Teubert scored a goal on an assist by Tessa Janecke. The Junior Fire responded again followed by the Avalanche's last goal of the game by Tessa Janecke on an assist from Rebekah Rath.

Goalie Ally Esch recorded 27 saves.

In the second game, Janecke scored a goal on an assist by Cammi Ganshert. Alyssa Knauf added a goal on a pass from Janecke. The Avalanche dominated the second period adding two more unanswered goals from Tessa Janecke. The Junior Fire lit the lamp for two at the top of the third with Tessa Janecke scoring on a pass from Alyssa Knauf.

The Junior Fire added one last goal, tying the Avalanche 5-5. Avalanche goalie Ally Esch recorded 26 saves.

On Sunday, the U14 Girls traveled to Waunakee to take on the DC Diamonds. In a very physical game, the Avalanche fell short and lost 7-3, but outshot the DC Diamonds 28-23.

Scoring for the Avalanche were Janecke, Anika Einbeck and Haley Knauf. Earning assists were Cammi Ganshert (two) and Teubert.



Pee Wee B

The Pee Wee B Avalanche team took on McFarland and the Madison Polar Caps on Saturday and Sunday.

In Game 1, the Avalanche traveled to McFarland and came home with a 7-1 win, holding McFarland to only six shots in the game. The Avalanche opened the scoring with a goal by Luke Kuberski with 6 minutes to go in the first period, but that was followed by McFarland's lone goal of the game, ending the first period 1-1.

The Avalanche picked up the pace in the second period with goals by Broc Kuberski, Rob Schroeder assisted by Luke Kuberski and Jared Dillon, and Luke Kuberski with an assist by Bryce Montgomery. Rounding out the second period scoring was Rebekah Rath scoring a goal with an assist by Ruger Hansen, ending the second period 5-1. The Avalanche added two more goals in the third period - one by Schroeder and the other by Hansen on an assist by Montgomery.

In the second game of the weekend, the Avalanche traveled to West Madison and lost 8-1 to the Madison Polar Caps. The Caps launched more than 50 shots in the game and took down the Avalanche. The only goal scored by the Avalanche came in the second period during a power play by Avalanche player Brady Smith, who received a leading pass from Luke Kuberski to set up the goal.

Goaltender Aiden Runkle had 43 saves. The Pee Wee B take on the Patriots at home at 6 p.m. Saturday at SLICE.
