U10 Rebels open with two wins

MONROE - The Monroe U10 girls soccer team opened the season with a 5-3 win over Stoughton on Saturday, April 21.

Megan Benzschawel scored five goals to lead the Rebels. First half attempts on goal were made by Marissa Vosberg, Anika Einbeck and Cassie Gersbach. Karlye Mazahreh-Disch and Maggie Curtis and saves as goalie.

In the second half, shots on goal came from Maddison Markham, Mazahreh-Disch, Amy Wuethrich and Vosberg. Gersbach had two saves as goalie.

On Sunday April 22, the U10 Rebels beat Platteville 5-2. During the first half Kayleigh Nesbitt and Cassie Gersbach each scored a goal while Karlye Mazahreh-Disch had two saves. Gersbach led Monroe with three goals.

Monroe came out strong the second half and scored three more goals. Anika Einbeck scored with the assist by Kira Lambert. Gersbach scored two more goals with one assist by Maddison Markham. Mazahreh-Disch had two more saves as goalie.

The U10 Rebels play in Oregon on Saturday.
