MONROE - The ice was split at SLICE this past weekend.
The Monroe Avalanche high school squad won a 4-0 decision over Beloit Friday night before dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker to Manitowoc Sunday.
Goalie Derek Lewis would've earned a first star in the NHL for his 17-save performance on Friday night while Brandon Mortimer, Connor Lind, Mark Hoesly and Joe Ganshert all lit the lamp.
While Lewis made 29 saves on Sunday against Manty, 33 shots were rifled off as goals by Bryan Daley, Drew Geissbuhler and Lind couldn't lift the 'Lanche to victory.
The squad hosts Stoughton Friday at 8:30 p.m. before road games Saturday at 8 p.m. at Verona versus Southwest and 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Dodgeville versus the Ice Wolves.
