Seven Cardinals receive all-conference honors

BRODHEAD - Seven members of the Brodhead softball team received all-conference honors from the Rock Valley South.

Pitcher Amanda Pickel was named to the first team for the fourth time in her career (second time as a pitcher). She was joined on the first team by infielder Taurie Burns, who made her second appearance on the first team.

Infielder Tabby Harnack and Taylor Douglas were named to the second team, while Erica Baxter and Payton Wright each received honorable mention.

The Cardinals' season came to an end against Mineral Point in the sectional final, just one game away from state. Brodhead's record for the season was 16-9.



Capitol South

NEW GLARUS - New Glarus pitcher Emma Jackson was the lone Glarner Knight to receive all-conference recognition. Jackson was named to the second team.

Marshall's Hailee Frey was named both the Capitol South Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.

New Glarus lost to Cuba City in the first round of the WIAA postseason.



SWAL

DARLINGTON - Three members of the Darlington softball team received all-conference recognition from the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League.

Shortstop Cassidy Cox and catcher Taylor Cox were both named to the first team. Third baseman Anna Fitzsimons received an honorable mention.

The Redbirds finished the season with a 6-12 overall record, 4-10 in the SWAL and lost in the first round of the WIAA playoffs to Belleville.
