MONROE — Holly’s Heart and Sole Family Fun Run, an annual race set for the last Saturday in July, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at North East Park.

The race, which is in its third year, honors Holly (Soden) Farwell who passed away from breast cancer July 29, 2016. Holly was born in Monroe and graduated from MHS in 2001, where she ran track and cross country, played the flute and studied Spanish.

The event raises money for three scholarships each year — two worth $500 and one worth $1,000 — with a preference to those pursuing an education, music or Spanish degree. This year Alex Hernandez, Corrina Snider and Saige Waefler were awarded the scholarship money.

To sign up for the run, visit https://tinyurl.com/bd3afjks. There are four different options for running — a kid’s race, 5k, 10k or family walk. All events, except for the kid’s race, are $30 with registration ending 5 p.m. on July 28. For more information, visit their Facebook page Holly’s Heart and Sole Family Fun Run.
