MONROE - Ellie Radke, a 2006 Monroe High School graduate, brings her Division I college basketball team, Canisius, to Madison this weekend to play Wisconsin.
Radke is a starting forward for the Golden Griffins in her junior season. Thus far she is averaging 7 points and 6 rebounds per game. Canisius is 1-1 with a 69-56 season-opening win over Buffalo and a loss Wednesday to St. Bonaventure, 60-56.
Radke averaged 5.8 points and 2 rebounds a year ago, and scored 2.3 points and averaged 2.1 rebounds per game her freshman season.
Canisius, located in Buffalo, N.Y., plays in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
The game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Wisconsin is 1-1 after beating Drake, 55-39, Thursday night.
Radke led Monroe to the 2006 WIAA Division 2 state championship in a season she was named Wisconsin's "Miss Basketball." She was selected the state tournament's MVP, and was named the Player of the Year by the Monroe Times.
She also excelled in track and field, as well as swimming. She won numerous individual state titles in multiple events.
