MONROE - On Saturday, Kookaburra's of Monroe welcomed race car drivers Nathan Haseleu and Jeremy Miller to its NASCAR on the Square event.

"It's really cool coming to town," Haseleu said. "The Swiss Colony has sponsored us for five years, and it's cool to come to their hometown."

Haseleu raced in 12 events during the 2001 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. In 2002, he returned to super late model racing where he has won races at Madison International Speedway, Dells Motor Speedway and events at the Milwaukee Mile. He races in Wisconsin Challenge Series and NASCAR Midwest Series and has collected a record 77 victories over the years.

"Racing is still kind of a hobby to race. It's what I've wanted to do since I was young and growing up," Haseleu said.

This season, Haseleu is the current points leader in the American Speed Association Midwest Tour, which is the premier super late model tour in the Midwest

"This year has been going great for us. We're the current points leader in the ASA Midwest Tour, so it's going great half way through the year," Haseleu said.

Miller races throughout the country, and already has two wins and eight top five finishes this season. His last win came on Saturday, July 4, at Hagertown Speedway in Hagertown, Md.

"Racing is very demanding. We're at the shop four to five nights a week and race on Friday nights," Miller said. "It keeps us out of trouble and we get some fun out of it."

Miller said that it is nice to get out and meet the fans, and was more than happy to stop by Monroe.

"It's nice to get out and show the car off to the fans," Miller said. "We put the kids in the car and they enjoy that a lot. We just like to have fun with it."

Haseleu and Miller are both sponsored by The Swiss Colony.
