MONROE RECAP>

Baseball (2-5, 1-4 Badger South):> Behind some gutty pitching by starter Mike Rear and reliever Mitch Tordoff, the Cheesemakers pulled out their first Badger South win, a 6-5 victory Tuesday over host Stoughton.

Softball (9-1, 4-0 Badger South):> The Lady Cheesemakers survived one of the many tough schedule spots this season will see, with rain and snow makeups. After winning an emotional 2-0 Badger South tilt in Verona on Monday, Monroe survived Stoughton, 3-0, at home Tuesday night.

Track and Field: >After merely being happy to survive Friday's slick Simpson Relays at home, both Cheesemaker squads swept Tuesday's triple-dual with McFarland and Madison Edgewood.

Tennis: >If the well-traveled Cheesemakers had to split 4-3 decisions, they'll be glad it went down the way it did this week. Monroe lost a non-conference heartbreaker Monday in Sauk Prairie but rebounded to edge Monona Grove on Tuesday, also on the road.

Soccer: >The Cheesemakers did not have a promising match Tuesday, falling 4-1 at Stoughton. Now Monroe must host Verona on Thursday while still seeking a Badger South victory.

Golf: >Now that the season is in full swing, the Cheesemakers are getting some battle-testing. No. 5 hitter Alex Holmes narrowly got Monroe past Monona Grove at The Oaks on Tuesday by shooting a 45 in the 159-160 Badger Conference victory.
