Pec-Argyle girls 3rd at invitational

CASSVILLE - The Pecatonica-Argyle girls track team ran to a third-place finish at the Cassville Invitational on Thursday.

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Josie Penniston won the 100-meter dash (13.8) and placed second in the 800 (2:42.70), and senior Liz Tisch won the 200 (28.58) and placed second in the 100 (14.10).

River Ridge racked up 198 points to run away with the girls team title. North Crawford finished second (105) and Pecatonica-Argyle took third (69). Black Hawk (16) finished last at the seven-team invite.

The Vikings' 400 relay team of junior Taetum Pagel, freshman Valerie Carr, Tisch and Penniston won in a time of 55.45 seconds. Pagel also won the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches).

Black Hawk junior Haley Gertsch placed second in the 400 (1:05.97).

In the boys invitational, North Crawford outdueled River Ridge 198-147 for the team championship. Pecatonica-Argyle took fourth (59) at the six-team meet and Black Hawk was last (11).

Pecatonica-Argyle sophomore Joseph Tisch won the 800 (2:22.61) and placed second in the 400 (57.80).

The Vikings' 3,200 relay team of freshman Kyle Hartley, freshman Troy Nickels, freshman Payton Flannery and Tisch took second (10:03.74). Junior Owen Thornson finished second in the shot put (38-8).

The top finishes for the Black Hawk boys came from sophomore Mitchell Quinn, who placed fourth in the 400 (58.69), fifth in the 100 (12.83) and fifth in the 200 (26.33).
