MONROE - The Monroe-New Glarus girls swim team set 18 personal-record times Tuesday, but lost a dual meet to Oregon-Belleville 97-70 on Parents Night at the Green County YMCA.

"The scoreboard showed a loss, but it was a win for the girls in their last home meet of the season celebrating their parents and all of their support," Monroe-New Glarus coach Linda Moser said.

New Glarus sophomore Nina Schiro won the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 42.81 seconds and finished first in the 400 freestyle (5:04.38). Monroe sophomore Emily Meritt won the 100 butterfly with a PR time of 1:19.27. Meritt added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a PR time of 31.86.

Sophomore teammate Linnea Tabaka took third in the 400 freestyle with a PR of 6:06.24 and set a PR in the 1200 backstroke (1:28.19).

Monroe junior Brynn Ritschard finished third in the 100 freestyle (1:11.54).

Juniors Samantha Ellefson and Madison Katzenberger each set a PR in the 50 freestyle. Ellefson swam a PR of 32.5 and Katzenberger set a PR of 32.62. Ellefson also set a PR in the 100 freestyle (1:12.03).

Freshman Dee Delforge set a PR in the 400 freestyle by 10 seconds (6:46.71) and set a 100 backstroke PR by nine seconds (1:33.39).

The Monroe-New Glarus junior varsity swim team defeated Oregon-Belleville 60-36.

Monroe-New Glarus will swim at Fort Atkinson in a dual meet Oct. 11.
