Nyhus carries Brodhead to win

PALMYRA - Erin Nyhus had a monster game Tuesday.

The Brodhead junior scored a game-high 43 points - including eight 3-pointers - to power the Cardinals girls basketball team to a 66-56 nonconference win over Palmyra-Eagle.

Nyhus scored 23 points in the first half, drilling five 3-pointers, to help the Cardinals take a 32-18 lead at the half.

Brodhead's Jacklyn Kleeman added nine points.



New Glarus 49, Albany 36

ALBANY - Sophomore Libby Beck scored a game-high 17 points, but Albany couldn't rally and dropped a nonconference game to New Glarus.

New Glarus led by six points at the half and outscored the Comets 28-21 in the second half.

New Glarus junior Willow Lee scored a team-high 12 points, and senior Devon Boll added 10 points and hit two 3-pointers. Junior Julia Barnaby chipped in nine points.

The Glarner Knights (2-2) made 12 of 20 free throws.

Albany junior Haley Freitag added seven points. The Comets (0-4) made 18 of 26 free throws.



Darlington 62, Dodgeville 53

DODGEVILLE - Senior Taryn Rankin scored a team-high 21 points to propel the Redbirds to a nonconference win over Dodgeville on Tuesday.

Darlington (4-0) outscored the Dodgers 32-22 in the first half.

Darlington sophomore Bethany McDonald added 16 points, and senior Sadie Fitzsimons added eight points and made two 3-pointers.

Dodgeville junior Hannah Jones scored a game-high 37 points and drilled three 3-pointers.
