New Glarus girls outduel Black Hawk

NEW GLARUS - Junior McKinley Righter scored a team-high 16 points to lift the New Glarus High School girls basketball team to a 52-38 nonconference win over Black Hawk on Monday.

New Glarus (17-4) led by just two points at the half. The Glarner Knights outscored the Warriors 32-20 in the second half.

New Glarus senior Vanessa Narveson added 13 points.

Senior Aleigha Sigafus scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Warriors (12-9).



Benton 77, Juda 37

JUDA - Benton's Emma Lawrence erupted to score a game-high 30 points to lead the Zephyrs past Juda.

Benton (14-8) hit eight 3-pointers as a team. Both Benton's Lily Carver and Payton Bastian each knocked down three 3-pointers. Carver added 17 points and Bastian had 14.

Benton raced out to a 14-point lead at the half. The Zephyrs outscored the Panthers 40-17 in the second half.

Juda junior Chelsea Burkhalter scored a team-high 13 points and made two 3-pointers. Junior teammates Sara Jordan and Alexis Goecks each added eight points.



Evansville 54, Albany 45

EVANSVILLE - Senior Heather Messling carried Evansville to a comeback win over Albany.

Albany (5-16) led 23-20 at the half. Messling scored 16 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to spark the Blue Devils. Evansville (4-17) closed the game on a 34-22 run.

Albany freshman Payton Zurfluh scored a team-high 20 points.



Mineral Point 73, Pecatonica 20

MINERAL POINT - Senior Jessica Schultz scored a game-high 21 points to help Mineral Point roll over Pecatonica.

Mineral Point (18-2), ranked No. 5 in the Division 4 Associated Press state poll, outscored the Vikings 43-9 in the first half. Mineral Point's Clara Chambers added 13 points.

Pecatonica (1-20) was limited to just nine field goals.
