FREEPORT - The Cheese upended the Pretzels, 6-1, in a Snack Bowl spring matchup scheduled on the fly.
Finnish-exchange student Lauri Juonela fought through adversity and picked up a win in the No. 1 singles match, 0-6, 7-6, 7-5.
"Lauri played his best match of the season," Monroe coach Jim Bartholf said. "He was blanked in the first set then really got focused and stormed back."
Carson Root lost Monroe's only match in No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-4. Matt Le (6-4, 0-6, 6-3) and Eric Knudtson (6-3, 6-1) rounded out the other two single's wins.
"Eric Knudtson had a good win at No. 4 singles. He played well today," Bartholf said.
Artem Beer and Jim Kundert won the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, 6-3. Pat Gellings and Garrett Tschanz easily won the No. 2 doubles match, 6-0, 6-1, and Mark Hoesly and Dan Becker swept the No. 3 doubles 6-0, 6-0.
