MADISON - The Monroe High School boys golf team tied for 15th place in the 20-team Madison Edgewood Invitational at Blackhawk Country Club on Monday.

The Cheesemakers shot a 359 as a team to tie Stoughton. Eau Claire Memorial clipped Edgewood for the team title by three strokes, 317-320.

"It was a little windy," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "The course was really tight. It's not the easiest course if you are off at all. We are not happy with our results. We have to get better."

Monroe senior Devon Boeck shot a 13-over-par 85 to finish tied for 35th place with six other golfers. The individual champion was Eau Claire Memorial's Trevor Hudecek who shot a 3-over-par 75.

Both sophomore Jack Rogerson and senior Kyle Krebs finished with a 91 and tied for 70th overall with two other golfers.

Junior Collyn Wilde carded a 92 to round out the top four for the Cheesemakers.

"In golf, you just have to find what works for you," Rindy said. "I think once they learn more about their game and try not to do something they are not capable of doing their scores will get better."

Monroe will play Monona Grove in a Badger South Conference dual match at 3:30 p.m. today at the Monroe Country Club. The next 18-hole round for the Cheesemakers will be the Lake Wisconsin Invitational April 24 in Prairie du Sac.
