MONROE - Junior Morgan Seffrood scored three goals to lead the Monroe High School girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Whitewater in a nonconference game on Monday at Honey Creek Park.

Monroe junior Kennedy Ludwig had two assists.

Seffrood scored her first goal on an assist from senior Payton Noble at 12 minutes, 8 seconds. Seffrood scored her second goal at 34:45 to give the Cheesemakers a 2-0 lead at the half.

"Collectively, as a team we did a good job of moving the ball up and down the field," Monroe coach Kyle Kasten said. "Morgan definitely capitalized on the opportunities that were presented to her. It was nice to get a few in the back of the net."

Monroe improves to 2-1-1.

Seffrood scored her third goal on an assist by Ludwig at 49:09. Sophomore Emily Benzschawel scored a goal on Ludwig's assist in the 81st minute to cap the scoring.

Sophomore goalie Anna Latimer had nine saves.

"She played a phenomenal game," Kasten said of Latimer. "She and her defenders played a great game."

The Cheesemakers played without junior defender Reily Pond, who missed the game due to a leg injury sustained in a game last week.

Kasten said he's not sure when Pond will be able to return.

"We hope to find out more information this week," he said.
