Platteville leads Sugar River 413-390 for the championship after the first day of the meet. Monroe has raced up 241 points and is in fourth place out of eight teams.

Sugar River is looking to win the Dr. Stiles Invite for the third straight year. The meet was divided into two days three years ago to accommodate a switch to a six-lane pool instead of the eight 50-meter pool that was used in the past. Due to a diving accident, the Monroe Parks and Recreation Commission, wanted the swim team to start the meet at the deep end where the water is deeper for diving in on starts.

The meet is named after Dr. Frank Stiles, a pediatrician in Monroe who started the swim team to give children an outlet in the summer.
