MADISON - The Monroe Avalanche boys hockey co-op lost a third straight game as Monona Grove rolled to a 10-2 win Tuesday night at the Hartmeyer Ice Arena.

Monona Grove senior forward Tyler Patton scored four goals to power the Silver Eagles to the win.

Patton scored two goals in the first period as the Silver Eagles skated to a 4-0 lead.

With the loss, Monroe drops to 0-3, 0-1 Badger Conference.

"We played with them in the first period," Monroe coach Josh Smith said. "We were playing better than them. As the game progressed, I don't know if we got tired, but the goals stacked up and we relaxed.

"We had some little errors and Monona Grove was there to capitalize on them. Hats off to them for being at the right place at the right time."

The Silver Eagles scored four goals to start the second period to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Monroe freshman Joe Wyss scored a power-play goal on an assist from Cade Martin with 20 seconds to go in the second period. Monroe's Colby Smith scored a goal late in the third period to cut the Silver Eagles' lead to 9-2.

Monroe goalie Dan Guilliams had 36 saves.
