EVANSVILLE - The Monroe Cheesemakers went on the road Tuesday and got their third straight win, 3-1 over the Evansville Blue Devils in a non-conference match.
Senior Kylee Ritschard scored two goals and Katie Coplien made nine saves to lead the Cheesemakers.
Ritschard got her first score at the 13 minute, 23 second mark with an unassisted goal, then scored later in the first half in the 37th minute with an assist from junior Chelsea Haffele. The Cheesemakers increased their lead to 3-0 in the second half when freshman Vanessa Studer scored an unassisted goal in the 50th minute.
"Our players really stepped up and played a great defensive game in both halves," Monroe head coach Miriam O'Neill said.
Evansville's lone goal came in the second half.
"Abbey Schneider played a great midfield. She made some good decisions and was a great leader in the midfield, and it was nice to see Kylee get those two goals," O'Neill said.
Monroe (6-3-1) will host Milton on Thursday in a Badger South Conference match.
Sugar River 6, Wisconsin Heights 1
BELLEVILLE - Sugar River senior Hannah Kernen scored three goals and the Raiders remained undefeated after knocking off Wisconsin Heights 6-1 Tuesday.
Kernen scored the first goal on an assist from Mackenzie Christensen at 18 minutes, 33 seconds. Christensen, who had three assists, passed to Kernen for the Raiders' second goal at 19:51. Sugar River freshman Sierra Watrud scored a goal on a pass from Shelby Hubbard at 21:47 to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Sugar River senior Kendyl Anderson scored on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute and junior Trisha Boley and Kernen each added second half goals.
