"Gabby always plays hard and is really intense," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "She makes things happen on the field."

Monroe freshman Emily Frankowski put the Cheesemakers on the board with a goal on an assist from Ludwig at 4:57.

After the Vikings came back and tied it at 1 entering halftime, the Cheesemakers started the second-half strong. Freshman Kelley Baumann scored on an assist from Ludwig at 52:10 to give the Cheesemakers a 2-1 lead.

"Our seniors were really passionate about winning this game," O'Neill said. "I think they made a decision at halftime that they could come away with this win."

Haffele scored a go-ahead goal at 55:49 to give the Cheesemakers a short-lived 3-2 lead. That set the stage for Ludwig's heroics. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Wellnitz had nine saves.
