SOUTH WAYNE — Western Dubuque Epworth won the Black Hawk Invitational Dec. 7, with the host Darlington-Black Hawk WarBirds finishing second, just ahead of Parkview. 

Pecatonica-Argyle was fifth in team points, while Sugar River was ninth in the 10-team meet.

Bailey Schilling, at 220 pounds, scored 26 points and was first place for the WarBirds. Cayden Milz scored 22 points at 170 pounds, and Leif Bredeson had 20 at heavyweight. Milz and Bredeson each took second.

Pecatonica-Argyle’s Noah Krahenbuhl (126) and Easton Schraepfer (170) each took first place, while Dalton Turner (182) and Kristian Orloff (138) were second.

For Sugar River, Joe Quaglia (132) was first place.

ARGYLE — The Vikings knocked off the Raiders in a nonconference duel. There were eight forfeits on the night, two of which were double forfeits. Pecatonica earned points for five of six forfeits.

Sugar River had just two match wins — Alonso Vega pinned Dawson Gross in the second period of the 126-pound match, and Robert Chenoweth was victorious in the 160 match, pinning Justin Heatheshaw 90 seconds into the first.

Kristian Orloff pinned Sugar River’s Brian Hollis late in the second period at 138, while Pecatonica-Argyle’s Dakota Doescher pinned Brycen Schuhmacher in the second period at 145. At 170, Easton Schraepfer pinned Patrick Samon in 87 seconds.

The most contested match of the night came at 132 in a battle of state-qualifying wrestlers, where Noah Krahenbuhl edged Joe Quaglia by a 5-4 decision.
