BLANCHARDVILLE — With its 3-2 win over Barneveld on Tuesday, April 25, Pecatonica built a game and a half lead in the Six Rivers East Conference. The Vikings (11-0, 5-0) lead Argyle (3-3, 2-2) and Barneveld (7-5, 2-3) after the Orioles defeated the Eagles 6-2 on Monday, April 24.

Pecatonica and Barneveld remained scoreless for two innings as starting pitchers Jameson Johnson and Kasey Helgeson recorded two strikeouts each.

The Eagles struck first with a two-RBI single from Brock Malin. From that point on, though, Pecatonica’s pitching staff saw just two batters over the minimum. Tyler McKeon threw three innings of relief and struck out the side in both the sixth and seventh.

Offensively, the Vikings responded with one run in the bottom of the third. Designated hitter Wyatt McGowan reached on a two-out error and scored on and RBI single from McKeon.

McGowan led off the fifth inning getting hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a wild pitch and passed ball. Johnson brought him home with a sacrifice fly to center to tie the game at two.

Pecatonica took the lead in the sixth, as Austin Enloe reached on a five-pitch walk. He came around to score on a single from Lukas Rue.

McKeon had the only hit of the game, an RBI single in the third. He also collected the win on the bump, giving up just one hit in three innings. He struck out eight.

PECATONICA 15, BLACK HAWK 0

SOUTH WAYNE — The Vikings were just one hit away from a perfect game against the Warriors on Monday, April 24.

After a three-run top of the first from Pecatonica, Cooper Baumgartner smacked a single down the left field line for Black Hawk’s only hit and baserunner of the game. Viking starting pitcher Coy Ruegsegger sat down the next two batters in three pitches.

Pecatonica sent everyone to the plate in the second and third innings, scoring another nine runs. With three runs in the fourth, the Vikings enforced the 10-run rule after five innings to record the win.

The Vikings tallied 10 hits on the day, led by Max Steele and Elijah Knutson with two hits each. At the plate, Ruegsegger went 1-for-1 with a double, sac fly and three RBIs. On the bump, he collected the win, throwing three innings of one-hit ball. He struck out five without issuing a walk. In relief, Carson Kurschner and Rue struck out three each.
