Brothers Evan and Ian Suer surpassed 100 career wins this season.

ALBANY — The Parkview-Albany wrestling team celebrated another successful season at its banquet on Sunday, March 26.

The Vikings tied program records for wrestlers sent to sectionals (7) and wrestlers sent to state (3), while naming a program-best seven wrestlers to the All-Area team. 

Fourteen wrestlers lettered, four were conference champions,  seven were sectional qualifiers, three made state and Wes Egan was the lone Viking on the podium at the Kohl Center. 

Seven wrestlers received All-Academic awards, while Sam Schwengels and Slater Valley earned WWCA Academic All-State honors. 

Individually, Schwengels received the fastest pin award (11 seconds) and the McNair Most Dedicated honor. 

Nico Zamora was given the Hein’s Most Improved Award, while Valley earned the Underclassman Award. 

Egan collected All-Area Wrestler of the Year, Trailways South Wrestler of the Year and team MVP awards. He paced the team with 29 pins. 

Brothers Evan and Ian Suer surpassed the 100-career win mark, finishing with 108 and 101 victories, respectively.

Another pair of brothers — Byron and Gavon Brown — were nominated for District 5 Assistant Coaches of the Year.

Head coach Joel Steinmann earned his third All-Area Coach of the Year.
