SR wins again; Monroe roughed up

PORTAGE — The Raiders clipped Portage-Poynette with a 2-1 nonconference win May 2.

Rylee Hubbard scored the game’s opening goal off a pass from Kallie Ace late in the 35th minute to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead headed into halftime. Ellie Gentilli then scored at the 62:07 mark in the second half to put Sugar River up two goals.

Portage-Poynette scored its only goal in the 84th minute.

Rachael Heittola had just one save in net for the Raiders, while Sugar River (11-1-2) put 12 shots on goal offensively.

In other area action, Monroe lost to Watertown 10-0 May 3 at Honey Creek Park.
