BELLEVILLE — Senior Carter Scholey was named the Wissports.net Triple Threat Athlete of the Week on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on Wissports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

“There is always something to do throughout the year, which keeps me entertained and gives me something to work for,” Scholey said of being a three-sport athlete. He also admitted that “having enough energy to compete well in all seasons and managing time” is a challenge.

Scholey runs in cross country and track and plays basketball for the Wildcats.

In cross country, Scholey is a four-time Capitol Conference Performer of the Year, four-time first-team all-conference runner, two-time captain, four-time MVP for Belleville, three-time sectional champion and three-time state qualifier. Scholey finished third in the state meet in back-to-back seasons. He was also a second-team all-state selection in 2022.

In basketball, he was a team captain, won the coaches award in 2022-23 and averaged 8.4 ppg. The Wildcats finished 21-7.

In track and field, Scholey is a two-time MVP, four-time first-team all-conference selection, two-time sectional champion and three-time state qualifier.
