NEW GLARUS — Lindsey Schadewalt, a New Glarus sophomore guard, was selected as the Capitol South girls basketball Player of the Year this season, leading the Knights to a share of their conference title for the first time since 2008, while also leading the league in scoring at 19.8 points per game.

Schadewalt was joined on the first-team by Belleville seniors Callie Smith and Ava Foley, plus Cambridge senior Maya Holzhueter and Marshall junior Allie Rateike.

New Glarus junior forward Alex Atwell was a second team pick with Belleville senior Mickey Stampfl, Marshall senior Abby Ward, and Cambridge’s Saveea Freeland and Brooke Stenklyft.

New Glarus freshman Elle Lancaster and senior guard Peyton Yaun were honorable mention selections, along with Marshall’s Wynn Held and Halle Weisensel, Waterloo’s Brenna Huebner and Wisconsin Height’s Kylee Doherty.

On the boys side, the Glarner Knights saw three players named to the Capitol South All-Conference team.

On the boys side, senior Dain Walter and junior AC Strok were first-team picks, alongside Belleville seniors Carson and Trevor Syse, Marshall’s Craig Ward and Wisconsin Heights senior Devin Brabender.

The second-team had Belleville’s Andrew Ace, plus Marshall’s Reid Truschinski and Cole Denniston, Cambridge freshman Matt Buckman and Waterloo senior Eugene Wolff. New Glarus senior Carter Siegenthaler, Belleville junior DeMarcus Conner and Wisconsin Heights senior Weston Parman were honorable mention selections.
