Peterson top 3 at indoor state

WHITEWATER — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater hosted the Wisconsin State Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, April 8 with over 50 teams attending. All athletes — Divisions 1 through 3 — were pitted against one another.

Raylin Peterson of Black Hawk finished third in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, one inch. Onni Williams of Brodhead-Juda nabbed a point with her eighth-place finish, recording a throw of 37-07.00. Meghan Schultz of New Berlin West won the event with a throw of 43-11.50.

The Sugar River boys 4x400 relay also took third. The team — comprised of DeMarcus Conner, Jack Erickson, Thomas Nelson and Carter Scholey — finished with a time of 3:36.24. The winning relay from Arrowhead finished in a time of 3:27.43. 

The Cardinals had another top-eight finisher in Kalena Riemer. The junior finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.74 for one point.
