Paulson, Sathoff highlight all-conference selections

MONROE — The Rock Valley recently released its all-conference selections for the Valley Division, where Monroe softball landed two players on each of the first-, second- and honorable mention teams. Monroe baseball had two second-team selections and two honorable mention honorees.

Sophomore Kaegann Paulson was a first-team all-conference selection as the Cheesemakers’ leadoff batter and No. 1 pitcher. She led the team multiple offensive categories including at bats (103), runs scored (38), hits (42) doubles (17), triples (1), RBIs (29), stolen bases (15) and batting average (.408). On the mound, she pitched all but 20 1/3 for Monroe. Paulson posted a 15-10 record with a 2.33 ERA. She struck out 132 batters and walked 56.

Teammate Katrina Sathoff also earned first-team all-conference. She was 34-for-96 at the plate for a .354 batting average with 25 RBIs — all marks that were second best on the team. She also stole a team-high 15 bases and scored 23 runs. 

First baseman Sophie Golembiewski nabbed a spot on the second team. She went 31-for-90 at the plate for a .344 batting average — one of six Cheesemakers to hit over .300. Golembiewski was one of three batters to drive in 29 runs. She also hit 11 doubles and three home runs. In the circle, she posted a 3-0 record with a 3.20 ERA. In 19 2/3 innings, Golembiewski struck out 23 batters.

Outfielder Brinley Roidt was also named to the second team. She provided power at the plate, going 33-for-94 with six doubles, one triple and a team-high six home runs. She drove in 29 runs and scored another 28.

Olivia Feller and Kate Kundert rounded out the all-conference selections for the softball team, earning honorable mention.

Monroe finished second in the Valley Division behind conference champions Jefferson. The Cheesemakers reached a WIAA Division 2 regional final, where they fell to eventual state-qualifier Lake Mills 2-0. 

Monroe baseball had two second-team selections in Keegan Dahmen and Ethan Rosenstiel.

Dahmen was 20-for-76 at the plate for a .263 batting average. He hit a team best three doubles and two triples with 24 RBIs. In 50 2/3 innings on the bump, Dahmen posted a 3-7 record with a 4.01 ERA.

Rosenstiel was 20-for-74 at the plate for a .270 batting average with a double and two triples. He drove in 10 runs and drew 13 walks. He was the most used pitcher with 59 innings recorded. He finished 4-5 with a 4.63 ERA.

Ashton Hale and Cole Meighan rounded out the all-conference selections as honorable mention picks.

Monroe baseball finished fourth in its division. The Cheesemakers upset McFarland in the first round of playoffs before falling to Lakeside Lutheran 7-0.
