Argyle 13, Pecatonica 2

ARGYLE — The Orioles pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of five Vikings errors to end the game early April 23.

Leading 3-2 headed into the bottom of the fifth, Argyle had an inning to remember, scoring 10 runs to win the game by mercy rule.

Romdenne led off with a single and then stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Jadyn Saalsaa then hit a sacrifice fly to double the advantage.

With the bases clear, Lantz and Lindsay Connors walked back-to-back. Leah Flanagan and Kyah Hendrickson then hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it 6-2. Ganshert then walked to load the bases, and Lexi Leigh hit a 2-RBI single back up the middle. Ostby then reached on an error and Romdenne and Saalsaa singled home runs on their second time up in the inning. Jenny Helfvogt pinch-hit for Lantz and drove in a run on a groundout to make it 11-2 with two outs. Maggie Johnson then pinch-hit for Connors and hit the walk-off infield single.

Ganshert got the win on the mound, striking out seven while allowing five hits and a walk. Lexi McSherry was tagged for the loss, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 13 runs (8 earned) on 11 hits and six walks.

Ganshert was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs in the leadoff spot, while Leigh was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs in the 2-hole. Romdenne had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, while Saalsaa was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a triple.

Black Hawk 13, Belleville 0

SOUTH WAYNE — Hannah Butler threw a five-inning no-hitter against Belleville April 22, striking out nine and walking just two in the process.

“She is hitting her spots around the plate and setting up batters very well now,” Black Hawk coach Curt Leuzinger said “She struggled at the beginning of the season but is coming in good stride and understanding how to set up certain batters with their batting history. She has a great understanding that she does not have to strike everyone out but give our defense a chance to make plays that should be made whether it’s a pop fly or ground out.”

The Warriors took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and led 4-0 after two innings. A 7-run third blew the game wide open.

Belleville’s only baserunners came in the top of the third as Callie Everson and Jillian Michaels each drew walks.

Natalie Leuzinger was 2 for 3 with two doubles, two runs, two steals and four RBIs for Black Hawk, while Bailey Butler was 2 for 4 with a triple and three runs. Hannah Butler was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI-sacrifice fly and a run, and Kaitlyn Fey was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

“Our girls hit the ball well tonight. Everyone put the ball in play and made Belleville make plays,” Curt Leuzinger said.

Black Hawk 11, Barneveld 6

BARNEVELD — Bailey and Hannah Butler each homered as the Warriors picked up a key Six Rivers East win April 23.

Baily Butler finished the game 4 for 5 with two doubles, four RBIs, three runs and the bomb from the leadoff spot. Hannah, the team’s No. 3 hitter, was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and three runs. It was Hannah’s 3-run shot in the top of the seventh that gave Black Hawk some needed insurance runs.

Black Hawk led 11-3 headed into the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles connected on three consecutive hits with two outs and runners on base to drive in three, but Hannah got Daelynn Rhoades to ground out to second to end the game.

“We hit the ball very well and played smart defense,” Curt Leuzinger said.

On the mound, Hannah struck out seven and gave up eight hits, two walks and hit a batter. Fey had two hits for Black Hawk, as did Macie Stauffacher. Leah Marx hit a solo home run in the fifth for Barneveld.

Riverdale scored another run in the second and two in fourth and fifth innings. McGuire allowed five hits and six walks in five innings while striking out three.
