MINERAL POINT — With an 81, sophomore Alex Ruetten qualified for state as the third individual from the Division 3 Mineral Point Sectional on Tuesday, May 30.
“I was very happy for Alex,” Argyle-Pecatonica head coach Chuck Chandler said. “He’s poured his heart and soul into his golf game. To qualify for state as a sophomore is something for him to be proud of. I really look forward to seeing what he can do at Black Wolf Run.”
As a team, Argyle-Pecatonica shot a 357 — its best team score of the season. The Orioles were 11 shots behind second-place, state-qualifying Barneveld, which carded a 346.
“I challenged the kids to shoot 360 and see what happened,” Chandler said. “Our 357 was our best 18-hole team score of the season. We missed out on going to state by 11 shots. We really played well the last three weeks. We’ve got everybody back next year. The future looks really good for this team.”
