Orioles drop two games in two days

ARGYLE — The Orioles lost a pair of tight contests on back-to-back nights this week. On Jan. 24, Six Rivers East rival Black Hawk pulled off a 1-point stunner 34-33 in a low-scoring affair. The next evening, Clinton pulled off the nonconference victory, 63-59.

Black Hawk held a 21-16 halftime lead. 

Lucas Milz led the Warriors with eight points, while Seth Dunlavey and Dayton Burmeister chipped in with seven apiece in the win. Willie Helfvogt led Argyle with 15.

Against Clinton, Argyle went into halftime tied 25-25, but the Cougars outscored the Orioles by four in the second stanza.

Max Godfrey led all scorers with 22 points for Argyle, with teammate Willie Helfvogt adding 17 and Kaden Hartwig 12. Clinton had three players in double figures, with Reagan Flickinger scored 15 to lead the way.


Darlington 66, Boscobel 44

DARLINGTON — Against the Bulldogs (3-11, 1-6) on Jan. 24, the Redbirds swarmed out to a 31-15 halftime lead and rolled to a 66-44 SWAL victory.

Hunter Hardyman led three Darlington players in double figures with 14 points. Easton Evenstad contributed 13 points and Will Murray netted 12 for the ‘Birds.

Brady Smith sank five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 18 points for Boscobel.

In other area boys basketball action, Pecatonica fell to Barneveld 42-39 on Jan. 24, with New Glarus falling just short at No. 7 Mineral Point, 56-53. The next day, Darlington pounded Shullsburg 91-38, while Monticello lost to Cambridge 71-46.
