WHITEWATER — Landon Zimmerman, New Glarus, was one of 12 members of the UW-Whitewater track and field program to be acknowledged by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with 2018 NCAA Division III All-Academic Honors.
Zimmerman, a freshman, is majoring in accounting.
To qualify for all-academic accolades, student athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event (top 35 in a relay). Teams looking to qualify as all-academic teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1. UW-Whitewater’s women’s team was recognized as all-academic in the spring after posting a 3.27 cumulative GPA.
Women’s team members named all-academic were senior Chelsie Bence, Oconomowoc; junior Celeste Madda, Crystal Lake, Illinois; sophomore Abbie Felton, Burlington; and freshman Shelby Nickels, Manitowoc.
Men’s team honors also include senior Matt Green, Mukwonago; senior Alec Meixelsperger, Middleton; sophomores Alex Duff, Oregon; Greg Hatzinger, Marshall; Jake Schneider, Plymouth; Tanner Stephens, Nekoosa; and freshmen Colton Tisdall, St. Charles, Illinois.
A total of 637 women around the country were selected all-academic, with 408 men making the list.
