Monticello sweeps Argyle; BH blanks Juda

MONTICELLO — The Ponies snagged victory Aug. 31 with a commanding sweep of Six Rivers East rival Argyle, 25-11, 25-19, 25-19.

Ellie Gustafson had 17 kills and four aces for Monticello. In the opening set, Gustafson took over at the line with a 15-11 lead and served her squad to victory. Teammate Hannah Clark finished with six kills. Delen Gillespie had 17 assists and multiple streaks with six serves in arow. Kelly Grant added 10 assists for the Ponies, which were given an honorable mention nod in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association’s Week 1 Division 4 rankings.

Statistical leaders for Argyle were not available by press time.

Black Hawk 3, Juda 0

JUDA — The Warriors were pushed by the Panthers, but were still able to come away with the three-game sweep Aug. 31, 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.

Libby Jordan led host Juda with 9 kills, while Jackie Nusbaum dished out 17 assists. Ciarrah Davis had three aces and 24 digs for the Panthers, and Lavinia Rufer added two blocks.

Raylin Peterson led Black Hawk with 13 kills. Tatum Baumgartner, Ellie Edler and Makenzie Quinn each had a pair of aces for the Warriors, and Alyssa Lange finished with 8 kills. Peterson, Lange and Tara Wellnitz each had two blocks. Quinn added 12 digs.


Barneveld 3, Albany 1

ALBANY — The Eagles rallied after dropping the first set to beat the host Comets Aug. 31 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.

Albany’s Brianna Dahl led her team with 13 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Alana Durtschi had two blocks and 13 digs. Payton Firth finished the night with 15 assists and three aces. Myah Johnson dished out 10 assists and Emma Ellinger had a pair of blocks.
