MOUNT HOREB — The Cheesemakers dominated Platteville at home on April 25, and the next day let a 2-run disappear late at Mount Horeb.

In a 23-1 blowout of Platteville at Twining Park, seven Monroe players had multiple hits. Katrina Sathoff had four hits, four RBIs and five runs. Olivia Feller and Kate Kundert each had two hits, and Sydnee Conway, Hadyn Field, Sloane Ambrose and Karis Paulson each had two hits. Ambrose and Sathoff had Monroe’s only extra base hits, with the Cheesemakers collecting 17 singles in the game.

Monroe scored 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added five more runs in the second to all but put the game away.

Sathoff allowed two hits, three walks and two runs (one unearned) in five innings of work.

The next day Paulson had three hits, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, three RBIs and two runs in a Badger West loss to Mount Horeb. Feller added two hits. Sathoff allowed three runs in four innings in the pitcher’s circle. Ambrose gave up four runs (two earned) in two innings of relief.

Monroe scored a run in the top of the first and took a 4-2 advantage in the top of the fifth after Paulson’s 3-run home run. The Vikings rallied for three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning, then scored two more insurance runs in the sixth. 


Argyle 4, Pecatonica 1

ARGYLE — In a battle of Six Rivers East aces on April 26, Argyle senior Grace Ganshert won out over Pecatonica junior Chloe Schraepfer. 

Ganshert struck out 15 batters while giving up just one walk, four hits and an unearned run in seven innings of work. Schraepfer struck out 11, allowing three walks and five hits. Two of the four runs against here were unearned.

Neither team had an extra base hit, through Argyle’s Mya McNett was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Pecatonica’s Lexi Peterson had two hits and an RBI.


Pecatonica 15, Black Hawk 1

BLANCHARDVILLE — On April 25, the Vikings offense was chugging along on all cylinders against the Warriors. Tessa Green had three extra base hits, including a triple and two doubles, two runs and four RBIs to lead the way. Trinity Gruenenfelder, Bri Peterson and Nivaeh Gross each had two hits for Pecatonica. Amanda Chrowstowski had a double, three RBIs and scored two runs as well for the Vikings. 

Schraepfer got the win on the mound, striking out 11 and scattering four hits and allowing one unearned run.

Anna Haldiman was charged with the loss for Black Hawk, giving up 15 runs (six earned) in four innings on 11 hits and five walks. Ellie Edler doubled for Black Hawk, which committed six errors on defense.


Argyle 14, Monticello-New Glarus 2

MONTICELLO — The Orioles scored five runs in the first inning and led 11-2 through four innings in an April 25 win over MNG.

Ava Wiegel had three this and three RBIs for Argyle, while Maggie Godfrey had two hits. Grace Ganshert, Breann Flannery and Mya McNett split time in the pitcher’s circle, combining for six strikeouts, two unearned runs, two hits and two walks. Tatum O’Bel tossed all six innings for MNG, allowing 11 hits, seven walks and eight earned runs.


Juda-Albany 3, Monticello-New Glarus 1

JUDA — In a surprisingly close game to many, the Panthers walked away with a narrow victory over the Ponies April 26. Juda-Albany finished second in the state in Division 4 last season and returned its entire roster. MNG has just two wins in two seasons as a co-op.

A recent injury to star Juda-Albany sophomore catcher Myah Johnson affected both the team’s offensive and defensive prowess. The Panthers collected just two hits against MNG pitcher Kira Whisler. Brianna Dahl drove in two runs in Juda-Albany’s 3-run third inning. 

Alana Durtschi got the win on the mound for the Panthers, tossing a 1-hitter with six strikeouts and allowing an unearned run. Of her 65 pitches, 54 (83%) were for strikes.


Barneveld 6, Juda-Albany 3

JUDA — The Eagles took advantage late in an April 25 Six Rivers East game against the Panthers, pulling out a hard-earned victory.

Juda-Albany went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first, and the two teams were squared away at 3-3 through five innings. Barneveld scored two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. The Panthers were unable to catch up before the game came to a close.

Avary Briggs took the loss on the hill for Juda-Albany. All six runs were earned. Barneveld had 11 hits and six walks in the game. Eagles pitcher Daelynn Rhoades struck out 10 while giving up four hits, four walks and just one earned run in seven innings. Briggs had two hits and Ciarrah Davis walked twice.


Barneveld 20, Black Hawk 1

SOUTH WAYNE — The Eagles ended an April 26 Six Rivers East Conference game early after scoring 11 runs in the top of the first inning and nine in the second. Black Hawk scored just one in the bottom of the third and the game was called by mercy rule.

Allyse Troemel doubled for the Warriors. Izzy Leahy had three hits and seven RBIs for Barneveld. 


Brodhead 6, McFarland 0

MCFARLAND — McKenna Young struck out nine and allowed just three baserunners on three hits as the Cardinals skated to a Rock Valley victory April 25.

Brodhead scored two runs in the top of the first, then added another in the fourth, two in the fifth and a final run in the sixth inning.

Sophia Leitzen had three hits and two runs, Taetum Hoesly had two hits, and Cora Hafen doubled for Brodhead. 


Brodhead 5, Clinton 2

CLINTON — The Cardinals out-hit the Cougars 10-4 on April 26 and picked up yet another Rock Valley win this season.

Hoesly, Ava Risum and Daisy Nelson each had two hits for Brodhead. Nelson and Risum doubled as well.

Risum got the win on the hill, striking out 11 and allowing just four hits.  


Darlington 12, Fennimore 9

FENNIMORE — The Redbirds scored a win April 25 on the road thanks to an offensive explosion. Darlington collected 20 hits in the game, with five starters collecting two hits or more.

Greta Volkening was 4-for-5 from the leadoff spot with three runs and an RBI. Cayla Golackson and Josie Thomas also had four hits, with Thomas driving in four baserunners and Golackson finisheing with three runs and three RBIs, plus a double. Norgard and Mila Gille also doubled, and Jaylyn Schwarts had two hits. Wiegel struck out 12 on the mount, allowing just six earned runs while getting the win in a complete game effort. 

Darlington scored three runs in the top of the first inning, and a 4-spot in the second made it 7-1. Fennimore brought it back to within a run, but a 5-run seventh inning gave the Redbirds a cushion. Fennimore scored three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but was unable to complete the comeback.


Cuba City 19, Darlington 6

DARLINGTON — The Cubans exploded for 16 runs between the second and fourth innings en route to a mercy-rule win over the Redbirds April 26.

Ashlynn Norgard and Josie Thomas each had two hits for Darlington, with Thomas belting a double. Haley Stich belted a home run, scored four times and drove in six runners for Cuba City. Sophie Wiegel was tagged for 16 runs (10 earned) in 4.1 innings, including 11 hits and seven walks.
