MHS opens season with Myrtle Beach loss

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Monroe opened the 2022 girls softball season with a loss to Potomac (Virginia), 13-1 on March 23. 

Senior Karis Paulson had a triple, scored a run and walked in three plate appearances at leadoff for the Cheesemakers. Kate Kunder and Sloane Ambrose also had hits. Ambrose drove in Paulson in the bottom of the first for Monroe’s lone run.

Katrina Sathoff took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, allowing 9 runs (6 earned) in three innings of work. Ambrose pitched the final two, giving up 4 runs (1 earned). The pair combined to strike out three battlers and walked four with 15 total hits against.

Monroe is playing three straight days in the South Carolina destination city during Spring Break before returning home.
