BELLEVILLE — Just as they have for the last six years, the Raiders clinched another Capitol Conference championship with a 3-0 win over Lake Mills on Oct. 10.

Tikeh Tazeh and Nathan Hendrickson carried the bulk of the weight with a goal and assist each. Drew Brueggemann had the third goal, and Adam Johnson chipped in an assist. Clayton Streiff played all 80 minutes in net and recorded one save.

Sugar River did not allow a single goal in conference, outscoring opponents 15-0.

In other local boys soccer, Monroe fell to Fort Atkinson 1-0 on Oct. 10.

WIAA SEEDING

The WIAA recently released its seeds for boys soccer playoffs, beginning with regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Monroe (4-8-5, 1-5-1 Rock Valley) received a 14 seed and will host 19-seed Black River Falls-Melrose-Mindoro (4-9-2, 4-7-1 South Central). The two teams have no common opponents. The winner of the game will face 3-seed McFarland.

5-seed Sugar River (10-3-3, 6-0-0 Capitol), who hosts 12-seed Whitewater (6-6-3, 2-4-1 Rock Valley), will not play until regional semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 24. The two teams played Fort Atkinson to begin their seasons. Sugar River lost 2-0, while Whitewater won 1-0. But Cambridge-Deerfield was a different story; Sugar River won 2-0, but the Whippets lost 3-2. The winner of this game would likely play 4-seed Edgewood in a regional final on Saturday, Oct. 26.
