MONROE — Beloit Memorial scored six straight goals to defeat Monroe 8-3 on Thursday, Feb. 8. With the win, the Purple Knights (9-15, 1-11 Big Eight) take the season series from the Cheesemakers (13-8-1, 8-4 Badger Small).
Cameron Newcomer scored first with an unassisted goal, but Beloit scored six straight goals for a 6-1 lead five minutes into the third period.
The two teams traded goals for the final 12 minutes — one power-play goal each.
Gavin Brady (2G, 1A) led Beloit with three points. Gentry Grant tallied 24 saves in the win.
Five different players registered point for Monroe — Newcomer, Brody Goode, Jace Daughenbaugh, Hans Brandt and Cole Buholzer. Brock Brandli suffered the loss despite recording 53 saves.
MONROE 6, WHITEFISH BAY 1
WHITEFISH BAY — The Cheesemakers ended the regular-season on a high note with a nonconference win on Saturday, Feb. 10. Monroe outshot Whitefish Bay (6-17, 2-8 Classic Eight) 43-20.
All Monroe goals came at even strength. The defense allowed just one power-play goal in the third period. Gavin Roth (1G, 2A) led the Cheesemakers with three points. Buholzer, Patrick Alt and Brady Stuart had two points each. Kyle Theorin picked up the win in net, tallying 20 saves.
GIRLS HOCKEY USM 5, ROCK COUNTY FURY 0
RIVER HILLS — The Wildcats shut out the Fury for the second time this season on Saturday, Feb. 10. After an even first period, University School of Milwaukee (17-7, 6-3 Eastern Shores) outshot the Rock County Fury (16-8, 11-1 Badger) 23-9.
Charlotte Fetherston (2G, 3A) led the Wildcats with five points. Molly Jex picked up the win with 19 saves. Jillian Traver suffered the loss, recording 29 saves.
