DODGEVILLE — With a 60-53 win over Dodgeville on Tuesday, Jan. 30, New Glarus’s winning streak extended to seven games. The Glarner Knights (12-5, 4-0 Capitol South) have not lost since Jan. 2.
New Glarus’s latest match against Dodgeville (6-10, 3-3 SWC) was a 3-point contest. The Dodgers knocked down eight 3s, while the Knights tallied seven 3s. Free throws were the difference, as New Glarus made more than Dodgeville attempted.
Max Marty led with 21 points, and Brett Warrell added 18 with five 3-pointers.
MONROE 67, BIG FOOT 57
WALWORTH — The Cheesemakers dominated the paint in a conference crossover game on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Monroe (12-4, 7-2 RVC) was 23-for-30 from 2-point range, making more shots than Big Foot (9-7, 5-5) attempted. The Cheesemakers scored 42 of their 67 points in the paint, outrebounding the Chiefs 44-15.
Ryan Mathiason led the offense with 18 points, adding six rebounds. James Seagreaves recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and a team-best 24 rebounds. Logan Taylor also scored 17 points. All nine of Brandon Bassett’s points came from beyond the arc.
EAST TROY 62, BRODHEAD 57
EAST TROY — The Cardinals (8-8, 5-4 RVC) were just 1-for-16 beyond the arc in a conference crossover loss to the Trojans (4-12, 4-5) on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Junior Cullen Walker recorded his third double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. With 988 career points, Walker needs just 12 more to eclipse the 1,000-point milestone.
Jaxon Dooley also scored 18 points, while Gabe Bockhop chipped in 10.
ARGYLE 63, BLACK HAWK 45
SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors and Orioles battled it out at the 3-point line in a conference contest on Tuesday, Jan. 30, combining for 13 baskets beyond the arc. With 10 different scorers, Argyle (12-5, 7-1 Six Rivers East) prevailed over Black Hawk (1-16, 1-8).
Will Helfvogt led all players with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. With the regular season drawing to a close, Helfvogt is on pace to hit 1,000 career points in early February. Ike Waage and Mason McNett also finished in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Waage and Jeremiah Collins accounted for the remaining two Argyle 3-pointers.
Brycen Wilson knocked down five 3s in his team-leading 17-point total. Andrew Figi also finished in double figures with 10 points, including one 3. Jacon Woodruff accounted for the final 3-pointer.
With the win, Argyle keeps pace with Barneveld (12-6, 7-1) atop the conference. The two teams meet up on Thursday, Feb. 8. The Orioles previously beat the Eagles 55-37 on Dec. 21.
PECATONICA 54, MONTICELLO 46
MONTICELLO — Although the Ponies got within two points midway through the second half, the Vikings prevailed in a conference contest on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Pecatonica (9-5, 7-2 Six Rivers East) outscored Monticello (7-9, 5-4) in the paint 40-30.
Charles Anderson recorded a double-double for the Vikings with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler McKeon also finished in double figures with 10 points, including a pair of 3s. He and Cohlman Schlimgen combined for 11 assists.
Ryer Indergand led the Pony offense with 16 points. Peyton Smith chipped in 14 points and a team-best eight rebounds. Hunter Grossen assisted in four baskets.
Although Pecatonica’s conference championship chances are not yet chased, the Vikings would need to win their last three conference games — Juda, Albany and Argyle. Pecatonica beat all three teams in the first half of conference play. The Vikings would also need Argyle to beat Barneveld on Feb. 8. If both scenarios play out, there could be a three-way tie for the title between Pecatonica, Argyle and Barneveld (10-2).
ALBANY 63, JUDA 37
JUDA — The Panthers and Comets exchanged the lead three times in the first half before Albany went on to outscore Juda 40-20 in the second half en route to a conference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Ty Durtschi led Albany (10-8, 3-6 Six Rivers East) with 21 points and five steals. Brayden Bakken chipped in 14 points with a pair of threes, while Caleb Smith finished with 11 points. Durtschi and Kaden Zurfluh crashed the boards for six rebounds each. As a team, the Comets were 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Jayden Brown paced the Panthers (0-16, 0-8) with 14 points, going 3-for-5 beyond the arc. He also grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Braydon Steinmann also finished in double figures with 10 points, including a pair of threes.
